Sebelum dibuka secara resmi, kontingen dari seluruh kecamatan se-Kota Sukabumi terlebih dahulu melakukan defile. Mereka juga tak sekadar pamer jumlah pasukan, tetapi juga menampilkan atraksi-atraksi terbaik.
Mulai dari drumband ibu-ibu dengan perkakas dapur, sampai drumband anak-anak usia sekolah dengan peralatan modern. Bukan itu saja, ada juga atraksi barongsai yang membuat suasana pembukaan makin meriah.

Kejuaraan Tarkam di Sukabumi berlangsung mulai 10-12 September dengan mempertandingkan cabor lari, dan voli, dan bulu tangkis.
Wali Kota Sukabumi Achmad Fahmi menyebut Kejuaraan Tarkam 2023 sebagai ide brilian dari Menpora Dito Ariotedjo bersama jajarannya. Sebab, dengan ajang ini, partisipasi masyarakat dalam berolahraga bisa ditingkatkan. Selain itu, dia meyakini juga bakal muncul bibit-bibit baru olahragawan di Kota Santri tersebut.
